Abstract
In the first part of my talk, we will review the journey that began by applying dispersion engineering to enhance soliton functionality in silicon waveguides and culminated in unveiling an infinite hierarchy of solitons arising from nonlinearity and even orders of dispersion and in new directions for ultrafast lasers and comb systems.
In the second part we will cover our advances at the intersection of quantum, non-Hermitian, and programmable topological photonics. We will highlight our demonstrations of topological protection of quantum states of light and new topologically states in open systems, as well as the introduction of full programmability in integrated photonic topological platforms.
Biography

Andrea Blanco-Redondo is the FPCE Endowed Professor of Optics and Photonics at CREOL, The College of Optics and Photonics, at the University of Central Florida. Her Quantum Silicon Photonics group focuses on novel concepts on nonlinear and topological quantum nanophotonics. From 2019 to 2023, she was the Head of Silicon Photonics Researchat Nokia Bell Labs in New Jersey, USA. Prior to this she held positions with the School of Physics at the University of Sydney, Australia, and with the industrial research center Tecnalia, Spain She has an M.Sc. in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Valladolid (2007) and a Ph.D. Eng. from the University of the Basque Country (2014).
She is an Optica Fellow, an Optica Ambassador, and a former Optica Director at Large. She is a Chair of the SPIE Photonics West OPTO Symposium and holds several other Chair and Editor roles. She also received the 2016 Geoff Opat Early Carrier Award of the Australian Optical Society, and the 2014 Ada Byron Award to Women in Technology, among other recognitions.
