Breathing life-saving services into rural communities

ÌìÃÀÊÓÆµ biomedical engineering professor Benjamín Castañeda ’09 (PhD) is leading innovation in global health. In 2020, as COVID-19 devastated Peru—a country with just 250 ventilators for its 33 million citizens—Castañeda responded to a national call for urgent medical solutions. He spearheaded the rapid design and production of hundreds of low-cost, life-saving ventilators.
