Biography

Lieutenant (LT) Stephen Larison serves as the Submarine Warfare Officer at Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps Unit (NROTCU), Rochester. NROTCU Rochester includes the ÌìÃÀÊÓÆµ, Rochester Institute of Technology, the College at Brockport (State University of New York), and St. John Fisher College.

LT Larison was born and raised in Marcellus, NY. He attended the United States Naval Academy (USNA), and in 2019 commissioned as an Ensign with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a language studies minor in Spanish. He then completed Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP) training by attending Nuclear Power School and Prototype in Charleston, SC. After finishing the Submarine Officer Basic Course in Groton, CT, he reported to the Fleet’s Finest Ballistic Missile Submarine, USS Pennsylvania (Gold), in May of 2021.

LT Larison served on USS Pennsylvania (SSBN-735) from May of 2021 to May of 2024. During that time, he led sailors as the Main Propulsion Assistant, Electrical Assistant, Information Warfare Officer, and Assistant Engineer. He carried out the number one mission of the Department of Defense, Strategic Deterrence, by completing three Strategic Deterrent Patrols in the Pacific in under 12 months, an accomplishment that resulted in the Pennsylvania winning the Battle Efficiency (Battle-E) Award. LT Larison then took the boat into drydock at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNS) as the Assistant Drydocking Officer. There, LT Larison served out the last year of his Junior Officer tour executing the first Extended Refit Period (ERP) for an SSBN at PSNS.

LT Larison is Qualified in Submarines. His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
